Acupuncture for Pain Relief in Sheffield | Life + Lemons
Pain can affect movement, sleep, work and the activities you enjoy. At Life + Lemons in Nether Edge, Sheffield, we assess your symptoms and explain the evidence for acupuncture in the condition that matters to you.
"I've had pain for 2 years now and I've done so many things to ease this but nothing seemed to touch it and now its gotten to the point I felt i'd have to put up with it but today I've had my first appointment and I can say I can think about something other than the intense pain I have felt for so long. Truly thankful and will definitely be going back" Toni (Patient)
Integrated healthcare
Understanding your pain and its impact
Persistent pain involves more than the area that hurts. The nervous system, movement, sleep, stress and previous injuries can all influence how pain is experienced. We explore these connections and agree practical goals, from walking more comfortably to sleeping with fewer interruptions.
Acupuncture has been studied for several pain conditions. Evidence and recommendations differ by diagnosis. NICE includes a course of acupuncture as an option for chronic primary pain, where no underlying condition adequately explains the pain or its impact. We assess your symptoms and consider the evidence relevant to you.
Acupuncture for chronic pain: treatment and research
How acupuncture influences pain signalling
Muscle tension and local tissue responses
Acupuncture for Migraines + Tension Headaches
Migraine and tension-type headache are distinct conditions. We ask about headache days, symptoms, medication use and triggers, including any relationship with your menstrual cycle.
Acupuncture has evidence for preventing episodic migraine and is included in NICE guidance for chronic tension-type headache and, in defined circumstances, migraine prevention. We use a headache diary to track changes in frequency and impact.

Sports Injuries + Performance
Acupuncture for activity-related pain in Sheffield
Whether you enjoy running, gym sessions, cycling or a walk in the Peaks, pain can interrupt the activities that keep you feeling well. We assess your symptoms and consider acupuncture for pain management as part of your recovery plan.
We can coordinate with rehabilitation or other clinical support where useful. Suspected fractures, significant injuries or new weakness need medical assessment before treatment. Your return to activity should follow the needs of the injury and your rehabilitation plan.
