Making the Most of Your Acupuncture Treatment
Acupuncture + Hydration | How does hydration play a part in the outcome of your acupuncture treatment?Something I am beginning to notice in my practice more and more is that there is a definite algorithm to results achieved and the time it takes to achieve them vs. the water intake of the patient.
The less water that is being consumed, the longer it takes to see results! And I don’t mean tea & coffee… So I aim to explore how hydration & acupuncture work together to optimise our health & create improved, positive treatment outcomes.
As we are all electrical beings who’s cellular activity relies heavily on micro-electrical charges from our nervous system, it is one of the primary roles of acupuncture to stimulate these electrical charges and create balance where things have become disrupted.
I use the analogy that if we were to put a live wire in to an empty pool, what do you think would happen? In comparison, consider the effect of putting this same live wire into a pool filled with water. The electrical surge would have an immediate and profound impact on each and every water molecule within the pool.
As our bodies are 80+% water, we are in essence that pool of water! The live wire in this analogy is likened to the needles that we use in acupuncture.
It is absolutely necessary that patients drink enough water to help in the treatment process. I am realising that almost every patient with CHRONIC PAIN or a CHRONIC ILLNESS also suffers from “Chronic Dehydration.”
These patients typically feel STUCK – physically & emotionally e.g. constipation, osteoarthritis, inability to make decisions, move forward or let go. Chronic dehydration can then often lead to serious “dis-ease” in the body, including allergies, asthma, eczema, fibromyalgia, depression, mood swings, headaches, IBS and other inflammatory disorders.
I am offering you the opportunity to take control of your health and start creating a downward trend in reducing any niggling, chronic symptoms through the simple method of hydration.
Not only will this enhance the results of your treatment with me, offering you greater return on your investment (you, being the biggest investment in time and money you can make)!
Facts on Hydration
- Our body and brain is made up of 80% water, allowing us to think clearly & rationally when hydrated
- Our body contains blood which is 90% water and particularly to our muscles, lungs and brain all contain a lot of water
- We need water to regular body temperature, blood sugar and to provide the means for nutrients to travel to all of our organs
- Our body transports oxygen to our cells, removes waste & protects our joints & organs from inflammation (e.g. anything ending in -itis. Osteoarthritis, cystitis, diverticulitis etc.)
- We need water for digestive juices, urine and faeces (this is often why we get constipated)
- Our bodies contain water which is in lymph, a fluid that is part of our immune system and helps us fight off illness
- We need water to digest our food and get rid of its waste products
- We use water as the main ingredient in perspiration, which is a crucial way for us to eliminate toxins
- We need water for the proper functioning of every system in the body e.g. brain function, bone function, nerve function, hydrolysis, cellular energy, histamine, upper & lower digestion.
